This course will provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need to achieve your future goals.

The Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Applied Science (Year 1 out of 2) is an advanced, technical qualification equivalent to 1.5 A-level in science and allows you to progress to L3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied science for year 2.

Based at our state-of-the-art laboratories, you will get to perform real experiments and hands-on assignments using industry-standard equipment and be taught how to analyse your results. This course allows you to then tailor your modules to the scientific area that most interests you, with study options that include mathematical tools and calculations, biology, chemistry, physics and research in general scientific knowledge.

  • What do you need to apply?

    You need 4 GCSEs at Grades A*-C or 9-4, including Science, English Language, and maths. Or Level 2 vocational qualification and functional skills Level 2 English and maths qualifications.

  • How will you be assessed?

    You will be assessed by a combination of practical assignments and coursework.

  • Where can this course take you?

    This course could lead to employment in a variety of science-related industries, including biomedical science, nursing, health and social care, pharmaceuticals, food and nutrition, environmental science, and engineering, or give you the opportunity to progress to Higher Education.
