Where have you taken your students to this term?

I took my level 2 group to Sally’s hair & Beauty wholesalers last month, where they signed up for a professional trade card, this gives them discounts, VAT free days , special offers

Why Sally's Hair & Beauty?

Well it was a great opportunity to show learners professional products as opposed to shop/market bought products. Sally’s also offer CPD courses, demonstrations and talks, which we like to make full use of. On our site visits to Sally's, my students have full access to hairdressing and beauty therapy expert advice which they can apply on their courses and in some instances in their businesses.  

What else did you try to introduce to your students? 

We like to make regular arrangements for trips, site visits, relevant work experience in the industry, prevent and British values lessons. Recently, we invited Hair and Beauty Assessor Trainer Janette and she held an industry talk and threading session for our Level 2 Beauty Therapy learners.

The guest speakers had 12 years salon experience and are now working freelance. They discussed how to take steps from college into employment; they gave lots of advice and tips which the learners found really useful. They also demonstrated threading techniques and supported learners in their practice of the techniques.
