Are you already working in a product development role and are looking to up-skill? Do you have past-experience of problem solving and would like to return to education? Are you looking to increase your specialisation or change your study direction? Would you like to advance to Higher Education but are worried that your lack of qualifications is a barrier? If you answered yes to any of those questions, and are aged 19 or over, then we have the perfect course to help you achieve your goals.

This Level 3 Access to HE Diploma in Product Design is a one-year qualification designed to give you a direct route into Higher Education. Whether that be to study for a Bachelor's Degree, or Higher National Diploma, in a design-related subject.

On this course you will learn a range of practical, creative and technical skills; develop your knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of product design; and receive a thorough overview of the industry and how it operates.

Most of your sessions will take place in our new and well-equipped facilities, where you will be able to improve your practical skills using industry-standard equipment and materials, under the supervision of experienced subject-specialist teachers.

These same specialists will also teach you the theory and principles behind your practical work. In addition to this, you will be required to spend at least 15 hours a week in independent study.

More than just industry-specific learning, the Level 3 Access to HE Diploma will also teach you educational skills and study tools, to further help you to prepare for, and succeed in, exam situations.

Note: For this course you will need relevant A Level books, drawing materials and access to a computer and the internet.

  • What do you need to apply?

    4 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) at grades A*-C or 9-4, including English Language and maths

    or

    Relevant level 2 vocational qualification, and Level 2 English and maths qualifications

    or

    Proven industry experience.

    Additional information: You will need both GCSE English and maths at Grade C or 4 or above, or equivalent Level 2 Functional skills in both subjects.

    All students who are non-native English speakers and who have not undertaken their final two years of schooling in English, must demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5 or equivalent.

  • How will you be assessed?

    You will be assessed by a combination of practical assessments, coursework, project work, and examinations.

    After successfully passing the Level 3 Access to HE Diploma in Nursing, you may wish to consider furthering your training with one of the following undergraduate programmes, available at London South Bank University (additional qualifications may be required):
