LGBT Human Rights Activist Peter Tatchell talks to Lambeth Learners

The well-known human rights campaigner, Peter Tatchell visited the college on Monday 27th February as part of LGBT Month. He delivered an insightful and thought-provoking hour long presentation with Q&A to over one hundred learners giving them a historical and political perspective on LGBT rights and activity. The purpose of the presentation was to raise awareness about progressive change as a result of social movement campaigns. During his presentation Peter promoted The Peter Tatchell Foundation (PTF). The PTF raises awareness, understanding, protection and implementation of human rights in the UK and worldwide. This involves research, education, advice and advocacy for the enforcement and furtherance of humanitarian statutes and values. This event very much reflects the emphasis we place on equality and diversity, respect and tolerance and freedom of speech, all of which lie at the heart of our value system as a college community.
