We are delighted to offer this brand new Level 4 Creative Media qualification, where you can specialise in television. It will be delivered at London South Bank Technical College (LSBTC) in buzzing Nine Elms in partnership with London South Bank University (LSBU) who will manage your application.

Are you passionate about Media? Have you always wanted to know about the creative process of television? This one-year Level 4 qualification in Creative Media Production (Television) is an advanced, technical qualification co-developed with London South Bank University (LSBU) and employers, delivered in a supportive Technical College environment with contemporary facilities.

Gaining this industry-led qualification will not only provide you with a direct route to Higher Education, including direct entry to the second year of some of London South Bank University’s Bachelor’s degrees, it also will further your understanding of the practical and theoretical elements and specialist practices of television, editing and cinematography needed to fast-track your entry into the exciting and fast-moving world of television and its related industries.

The course emphasis is on developing a comprehensive understanding of sophisticated digital technologies within media and television and applying your newly acquired knowledge and skills by working on live briefs from employers, giving you first-hand industry experience. You will also undertake industry related enrichment visits such as to postproduction houses and TV sets and tours to enhance your learning experience.

Through immersive, project-based working, you will gain professional-level competencies in a range of key areas. You will be using industry standard equipment and software in NEW facilities and will have the chance to develop specialisms in TV to further your chosen career or study path.  When undertaking practical assessments, you will be supported by industry-professional lecturers to perform to an industry standard, either working within a team or on your own, using your own initiative to research required topics.

It does not matter if you have had no experience studying television previously as this course will provide you with the all the knowledge to prepare you to work or study at a media industry standard. Students will be able to access some of London South Bank University’s specialist facilities and benefit from the expertise of the University lecturers via master classes and other activities, whilst studying in small groups in a supportive College environment.

  • What do you need to apply?

    You will need the following:

    • 5 GCSE qualifications at grade A*-C or 9-4 (to include Maths and English ), and
    • A Levels CC, in science related subjects (64 UCAS points) or,
    • BTEC Extended National Diploma MPP or,
    • Access to HE Diploma 48 credits or,
    • Level 3 Apprenticeship in related subject or,
    • Equivalent level 3 qualification (64 UCAS points)

    If you do not meet the entry criteria above, we also review any previous skills, knowledge or experience you have gained outside of your education and are happy to talk through any extenuating circumstances you feel relevant.

    If English is your second language and you have not undertaken your final two years of schooling in English, you must demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5 or equivalent.

  • How will you be assessed?

    For all modules summative assessment consists of 100% coursework.

    Your acquisition of knowledge and understanding will be assessed by project-based tasks, including the practical demonstration of skills and presenting research in reports and presentations.

  • Where can this course take you?

    This course could lead to direct employment in a variety of creative industry roles, including entry into a career in Television, Film, Video Editing, Television Content Production, Audio Production, Marketing and PR.

    After successfully passing the Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Media Production (Film and TV), you may wish to progress to Higher Education, including the opportunity to progress straight to year 2 of either London South Bank University’s Film & TV degree or its Media Production degree.
