This course is aimed at those who wish to gain experience and a qualification in the field of Dental Technology. This is a 2 year course. On passing this 2 year course, the learner may be employed as a Dental Technician. The course is currently approved by the General Dental Council. The lessons take place in well-equipped dental laboratories on our campus at Clapham Common. With the support of our well qualified and experienced specialist teachers, you will learn the theoretical aspect and practical work of prosthodontics, orthodontics and crown & bridge work. During the course you will complete 16 units, covering areas such as: dental anatomy, dental materials, health & safety, Law and Ethics, dental laboratory compliance. You will also need to complete 240 hours of work based learning in a dental laboratory (you will receive guidance from our work experience coordinator in order to achieve this aspect. Assessment of the course is carried out through written assignments and practical work.
Our minimum entry criteria may be altered at any stage up to and including enrolment. All offers are subject to a successful interview and completion of an initial and diagnostic assessment.
For some of the programmes we offer you will require:
5 GCSE qualifications at grade A* - C or 9 - 4 including English and /or maths, or equivalent level 2 vocational qualification at merit or above (or pass if equivalent level 2 vocational qualification if pass or fail only).
