This is a progression course for those you hold Level 3 BTEC Foundation Diploma in Applied Sciencer and wish to progress to careers in science. All lessons take place in well equipped science laboratories and thought by specialist teachers. There are 7 units that cover topics in biology, chemistry, maths, physics and research in general scientific knowledge. Students have external exams for 2 units and the remaining units are assess based on the course work. All units contain practical work therefore students will be able to enhance their practical skills as well as understanding of the theory behind it. Additionally, you will be gaining skills in academic research and widening your knowledge in current scientific affairs. There may be opportunity to study GCSE English and maths alongside this course for those with Functional skills qualification. There will be opportunities to gain work experience or apprenticeship.

Entry Criteria

Our minimum entry criteria may be altered at any stage up to and including enrolment. All offers are subject to a successful interview and completion of an initial and diagnostic assessment.
For some of the programmes we offer you will require:
5 GCSE qualifications at grade A*- C or 9 - 4 including English and /or maths, or equivalent level 2 vocational qualification at merit or above (or pass if equivalent level 2 vocational qualification if pass or fail only).
Other requirements:
Candidates should have qualifications in Level 3 Foundation Diploma (NQF) in applied Science with overall grade Merit, GCSE English and maths at minimum grade C (New GCSE: 4 points).

Career Opportunities

After completing this course you will have the opportunity to progress to Foundation or degree courses at university. Additionally, our students may find work in a health care sector, pharmacy shops as assistants or other science related fields. Our student progress to degrees in Nursing, Midwifery, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Pharmacology. Some study Foundation courses in Pharmacy and Engineering courses.
