I'm sure you've heard the sayings 'you are what you eat', and 'healthy body, healthy mind', well, this course takes those wise words and teaches you the nutrition, dietary habits, and exercise planning needed to put those words into practice.

The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health is designed to teach you the real-life benefits of healthy eating and exercise, and how you can make simple lifestyle changes that will result in improvements to your well-being.

Teaching you everything from how to create effective diet and exercise plans, healthy nutrition, how to safely prepare food, and the key to healthy weight management, right through to understanding eating disorders, and how to tailor nutrition to a variety of individual needs.

Whether you are looking to take your first step towards a career in the fascinating world of health and nutrition, or simply looking to improve your own health and the well-being of those around you, this nationally-recognised qualification is a great place to start.

As this is an online course taught over 6-12 weeks, it offers you the flexibility to fit your studies around your existing work, training, or family commitments, whilst achieving agreed deadlines set by you and your tutor.

What experience and skills will you gain?

You will study the following topics:

  • Unit 1: Explore principles of healthy eating
  • Unit 2: Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
  • Unit 3: Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
  • Unit 4: The principles of weight management
  • Unit 5: Understanding eating disorders
  • Unit 6: Principles of food safety for the home environment

What do you need to apply?

4 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) at grade D or 3 or above, or Level 1 vocational qualification, or Level 1 qualification in English.

Additional Information: If you do not hold a suitable Level 1 qualification, or cannot provide evidence of one, you may still be able to enrol on this course following an initial assessment to test your level of literacy in English.

How will you be assessed?

This course can be completed fully online, or via paper-based learning. Both options are assessed via online tests and assessments.

This course can help you find employment in a number of entry-level roles in the health, fitness, and nutrition industries. It can also give you the opportunity to increase your career options through further study.

After successfully passing the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health, you may wish to consider progressing on to one of the following Level 3 courses to expand your knowledge and skills:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (NCFE)
  • Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Sport (BTEC)
  • Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science (BTEC)
