Following the introduction of The Terrorism Act in 2000, by December 2018 there had been 4,382 arrests for terrorism-related offences in the UK*. With issues of human rights, hate crime and democracy becoming ever more prevalent in the UK and the world, it's more important than ever to be informed on the measures that can be taken to help prevent terrorism, and promote safeguarding and British Values in society.

This nationally-recognised qualification will equip you with a detailed understanding of how to recognise and prevent radicalisation and extremism, the principles of safeguarding, the Prevent duty and its importance in society, and the importance of online safety and British Values.

The Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values is split into manageable study units, and will develop your knowledge and understanding in four key areas:

  • Unit 1: Principles of safeguarding
  • Unit 2: The Prevent duty and its importance in society
  • Unit 3: The importance of online safety
  • Unit 4: The importance of British Values

Whether you're currently working in a safeguarding or Prevent role, and would like to develop your specialist skills; would like to work in a safeguarding or Prevent role in the future, and are looking to enhance your career prospects; or if you simply want to increase your awareness and understanding of safeguarding, Prevent and British Values for personal or professional reasons; this is the course for you.

The Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values is also a great choice for those of you looking to advance your continuing professional development (CPD).

This is an online course taught over 8-12 weeks, meaning you can choose when and where you study, so it offers you the flexibility to fit your studies around your existing work, study, or home-life commitments.

  • What do you need to apply?

    4 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) at grade C or 4 and above, or Level 2 vocational qualification, or Level 2 qualification in English.

    Additional Information: If you do not hold a suitable Level 2 qualification, or cannot provide evidence of one, you may still be able to enrol on this course following an initial assessment to test your level of literacy in English.

  • How will you be assessed?

    This course can be completed fully online, or via paper-based learning. Both options are assessed via online tests and assessments.
