This focus of this course is to give you a thorough understanding of the importance of dignity and safeguarding within the adult health and social care environment. It is designed to give you the knowledge and skills you need to help protect innocent and vulnerable people from abuse.
You will learn about the principles of dignity in social care practices, and develop an understanding of duty of care in adult health, while being introduced to the real-life dilemmas and public concerns that adult health and social care experience.
This is an online course taught over 4-8 weeks, so it offers you the flexibility to fit your studies around your existing work, training, or home-life commitments, whilst achieving agreed deadlines set by you and your tutor. It is an ideal starting point for those just starting out in their social care career, and equally suitable for those of you already working in the sector and looking to increase your specialist knowledge.
What modules will you do?
You will study the following topics:
- Unit 1: Understanding safeguarding in adult health and social care
- Unit 2: Principles of dignity in adult health and social care practices
- Unit 3: Understanding duty of care in adult health and social care
- Unit 4: Understanding dilemmas and public concerns in adult health and social care
What do you need to apply?
4 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) at grade D or 3 or above, or Level 1 vocational qualification, or Level 1 qualification in English.
Additional Information: If you do not hold a suitable Level 1 qualification, or cannot provide evidence of one, you may still be able to enrol on this course following an initial assessment to test your level of literacy in English.
How will you be assessed?
This course can be completed fully online, or via paper-based learning. Both options are assessed via online tests and assessments.
Where can this course take you?
This course is suitable for you if you are already working in the adult health and social care sector, are looking to find employment in an entry-level health or social care role, or would like to advance on to further study.
After successfully passing the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care, you may wish to consider progressing on to one of the following Level 3 courses:

- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (City and Guilds)
- Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (BTEC)
