Is this course for you?

If you're aged 19 or over and are looking to improve your maths skills in order to progress to further study and qualifications, including a wide range of vocational courses here at Lambeth College; improve your employment prospects; or advance in your current job; then our GCSE Maths programme could be exactly what you're looking for.

On this course you'll study the essential mathematical topics you'll need to achieve your future educational or career goals. These include areas and volumes, Pythagoras theorem, trigonometry, quadratic equations, probability and statistics, and much more.

And for those of you returning to education, or without experience of formal exams, there's no need to worry; our team of expert tutors will fully prepare you via a mix of homework assignments, past papers, and classroom-based and exam-condition Mock Exams.

All of our GCSE Maths learners initially start on our Foundation tier – this tier covers grades 1-5 (the equivalent of grade G-C). However, your tutor may decide that you&#39re capable of the Higher tier, which covers grades 4-9.

If your aim is to gain entry to one of Lambeth College's exciting, industry-standard, vocational qualifications, then you may also wish to consider enrolling on our GCSE English programme for adult learners. And, as this is a part-time programme, it's perfectly suited to those of you who need to base your study around your existing home, work, or educational commitments.

  • What do you need to apply?

    No formal qualifications are required

    Additional Information:

    You'll have an initial assessment of your current skill-level in maths, in order to determine which is the right level qualification for you.

  • How will you be assessed?

    The first 10 weeks of your course will be assessed via a portfolio of your completed work. Your tutors will also look at the progress you've made, your attendance record and punctuality, your attitude to learning, and the work you've completed between classes.

    Once you've passed your 10-week portfolio assessment, you'll progress to the full GCSE qualification; where you'll be assessed via three written exams.

    You'll be allowed to use a calculator in two of these exams, and each exam will last 1hr 30mins. Your exam questions will be a mix of short single-mark questions, and multi-step problems.

    Please Note: GCSE exam dates are nationally-fixed and cannot be moved. You'll be notified of the dates and times well in advance, and will need to ensure that you're available for each exam.

  • Where can this course take you?

    Once you've successfully completed your course, you could progress to a higher-level maths qualification; or on to a vocational study programme here at Lambeth College.
