Based at our state-of-the-art hospitality and catering facility, this course is designed to give you a complete overview of front of house and professional kitchen operations and will teach you the key areas of food and beverage service.
This course will develop your knowledge and skills in such varied subjects as health and safety, customer satisfaction, understanding menus, dealing with payments and bookings, bar work and serving hot drinks, and food service skills.
If you're looking to take your first step towards a career in professional hospitality, or want to gain access to further qualifications, then this is the course for you.
The Level 1 Certificate in General Food and Beverage Service Skills is available as both a part-time day course and via evening classes, both with one college-based study session a week, so it can be fitted around your existing work, study, or family commitments.

What do you need to apply?
2 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) at grade D-G or 3-1 or Entry Level vocational qualification
Additional Information: You will have an initial assessment in English and maths
How will you be assessed?
You will be continually assessed in a variety of ways including practical tasks, observations, assignments, and portfolio work.
Where can this course take you?
This course can lead to entry-level front of house positions in a variety of hospitality and catering environments such as bars, restaurants, hotels, cafÃ©s, and sports clubs.
You could also choose to continue your hospitality and catering training.
After successfully passing the Level 1 Certificate in General Food and Beverage Service Skills, you may wish to consider one of the following Level 2 courses:
