If you want a career as a hairdresser or beauty therapist, or to work in the hair and beauty industry in general, then this course is the perfect place for you to start.
As well as teaching you essential and artistic hair and beauty techniques, the Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector will also develop your practical skills to prepare you for salon life.
You will learn everything from shampooing and conditioning, skincare, manicures and pedicures, and plaiting and twisting, right through to communication, team work, and how to provide excellent customer service.
This course will not only develop your hair and beauty treatment knowledge, skills, and techniques, it will also teach you about working in a salon and customer care, so you can meet and exceed both your customers, and employers, expectations in your future career.

You will be taught skills and techniques such as:
- Shampoo and conditioning
- Plaiting and twisting
- Hair treatments
- Manicure and pedicure

What do you need to apply?
2 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) at grade G or 1 or above or equivalent Level 1 vocational qualification.
How will you be assessed?
You will be assessed by a combination of practical assessments (performing treatments and techniques on clients) and course work.
Where can this course take you?
This course could lead to employment as a salon assistant or a similar junior salon role.
After successfully passing the Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector, you could further develop your knowledge and skills on the following courses:
