If you're aged 19 or over and looking to improve your English skills in order to progress to further study, seek employment, advance your career, or just be more confident in your use of English, then these are the right courses for you.
These courses are designed to give you the knowledge and skills to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life. You will develop your English skills in spelling, vocabulary usage, grammar and punctuation, reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
There are seven different options, and you will have an assessment to make sure you start learning at the level that's right for you. The levels we offer are:
- Adult Entry 2 Edexcel Functional Skills English
- Adult Entry 3 Edexcel Functional Skills English
- Adult Level 1 Edexcel Functional Skills English
- Adult Level 2 Edexcel Functional Skills English
- Adult Fast-Track Entry 2 Edexcel Functional Skills English
- Adult Fast-Track Entry 3 Edexcel Functional Skills English
- Adult GCSE English (AQA)
After successfully passing your appropriate course, you will have improved communication skills to help you to go on to further study, or to find work.
What modules will you do?
You will develop your knowledge and skills in:
- Grammar and punctuation
- Vocabulary use
What do you need to apply?
No formal qualifications required
Additional Information: You will have an initial assessment in English grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening
How will you be assessed?
You will be assessed during class hours and will create a portfolio of work. You will also have examinations based on what you have learnt.
Where can this course take you?
Once you have successfully completed your English course, you may progress to a higher level of English learning or into a vocational study programme.
We advise that you need to be at Level 1 to move onto a specific-subject vocational qualification.
