    Additional Information:

You will have an initial assessment of your current skill-level in English, in order to determine which is the right level qualification for you.

  • How will you be assessed?

The first 10 weeks of your course will be assessed via a portfolio of your completed work. Your tutors will also look at the progress you have made, your attendance record and punctuality, your attitude to learning, and the work you have completed between classes.

Once you have passed your 10-week portfolio assessment, you will progress to the full GCSE qualification; where you will be assessed via two written exams.

These exams will each last for 1hr 45mins, and will be a mix of short-form, longer-form, and extended questions. You will also have a non-examination oral assessment in your use of standard spoken English.

Please Note: GCSE exam dates are nationally-fixed and cannot be moved. You will be notified of the dates and times well in advance, and will need to ensure that you are available for each exam.

  • Where can this course take you?

Once you have successfully completed your course, you could progress to a higher-level English qualification; or on to a vocational study programme here at Lambeth College.
