The Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children is designed to develop your knowledge of what it takes to care for children in a professional setting, and develop your understanding of the skills required to provide child care.

On this course you will learn about topics such as the growth and development of young children, children's play and leisure activities, practical health and safety, learning and development through play, confidence building, and science and technology activities for young children.

More than just teaching you work-skills, this course will also help prepare you for your next steps in your learning or career journey, and introduce you to the vocational options available to you.

What do you need to apply?

Entry Level 3 English qualification

Additional information: You will have an initial assessment in English and maths.

How will you be assessed?

You will create a portfolio of work during your study that will be assessed.

Where can this course take you?

This course could lead to employment in an entry-level or trainee role in caring for children.

After successfully passing the Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children, you could further develop your knowledge and skills on one of our Level 2 courses:

  • Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (NCFE CACHE)
  • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (NCFE CACHE)
