The Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design, Fashion provides young people with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to the extended diploma in fashion, art and design, or even photography as well as higher education or employment. Learners will explore technique, skill and media in the first year, grounding their abilities to capture and express ideas and forms visually as well as garment patterning and construction. In the first year a heavy emphasis falls on draping, pattern cutting and sewing skills. Learners will additionally gain understanding of research and historical context, how to explore media and how to finish and present work.
Our minimum entry criteria may be altered at any stage up to and including enrolment. All offers are subject to a successful interview and completion of an initial and diagnostic assessment.
For some of the programmes we offer you will require:
5 GCSE qualifications at grade A*-C or 9-4 including English and /or maths, or equivalent level 2 vocational qualification at merit or above (or pass if equivalent level 2 vocational qualification if pass or fail only).
Preferable English & Maths at Grade C or above,
L2 in related subject area or 5 GCSEs at C or better.
Review of portfolio, ideally showing some attempts with moderate success in the subject area,
This course also requires demonstration of some prior sewing ability, garment construction, or some form of prior course in sewing technique.
