Is this the course for you?

If you have already acquired a Level 2 qualification in counselling skills, and now want to increase your knowledge and training in order to take your next step towards becoming a qualified counsellor, then you're in the right place, as this is the course for you.

The Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies will deepen your knowledge of ethics, counselling theory, and mental health, while aiding your personal development as a counsellor. With a strong focus on experiential areas such as professional discussion and workshops, simulated counselling practice, and group training supervision, this course seeks to recreate real-world scenarios to allow you to really hone your skills.

On this course you will introduced to the three main counselling theories, these being the Person-Centred approach, the Psychodynamic approach, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), providing you with a broad base of knowledge to help advance your future career.

You will also be required to take part in six sessions of personal counselling to aid your personal development.

The Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies will not lead directly to employment as a fully-qualified counsellor, it is primarily designed as a gateway to continued studies and training, but it can open the door to trainee counsellor roles and employment in related fields.

This is a two-year part-time course, with classes held every Thursday for 18 weeks. With a choice of two study times, either 9am-3.10pm, or 3.30pm-9pm, this course can be fitted in around your existing work, study, or family commitments.

What our students think

"I wanted to write actually and say thank you for your advice about doing an MA. I got into Goldsmiths over the summer and will be starting there from mid-September…. If you hadn’t suggested I look into doing an MA I may not have, so I owe you a great debt of gratitude.

I really enjoyed being your student at Lambeth during Level 3."
