Are you looking for a hands-on/physical career in a high-in-demand field? Bricklayers are responsible for the very foundations of our buildings, which makes them a core role in construction. With Government setting high targets for new build homes, the need for bricklayers has never been higher.

Learn how to lay bricks, blocks, and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures like chimney stacks. Set yourself up for working on everything from large commercial developments to refurbishment and restoration projects. You may work one-on-one or on larger jobs where your gang is working alongside other bricklaying gangs (or other trades.)

What experience and skills will you gain?

  • Construction techniques, including how to lay radial, battered, feature and reinforced brickwork
  • How to set out and build fireplaces and chimneys
  • ther brickwork such as block laying and cavity walling

    This course will be delivered at London South Bank Technical College - Nine elms
  • What do you need to apply?
    • Minimum of Level 1 English & maths and we will help you to achieve a Level 2 in both.
  • How will you be assessed?

    There will be a combination of multiple choice and written exams, portfolio work, interviews and practical assessments.

    The End Point Assessment (EPA) takes an overview of the apprentice's competence. This is undertaken once you have developed all the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you have gained during your course.

  • Where can this course take you?

    Completion of this apprenticeship means you will be able to obtain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card that will open doors for a career in bricklaying.
