Is this the course for you?

Whether you are already working in the construction or decorating industries, have already gained vocational qualifications in a construction trade, or are looking to re-train or up-skill, if you are over 19 and have the ambition to become a professional wall and floor tiler, then this is the course for you.

On the Level 2 Diploma in Wall and Floor Tiling you will receive practical hands-on training, where you will learn essential tiling skills and techniques. You will also develop your knowledge of health and safety, and the principles of building construction, information and communication.

This course is designed to teach you the basics of tiling wall and floor surfaces, preparing backgrounds for tiling, and forming sand and cement screeds, while preparing you for life as a professional tiler in the construction, building services, and decorating industries.

This is a part-time course, consisting of one day of study a week, so can be fitted around your existing work, study, or home-life commitments.

Note - Personal Protective Clothing is required

What modules will you do?

You will develop knowledge, skills, and techniques in areas such as:

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction
  • Principles of building construction, information and communication
  • Preparing backgrounds for tiling
  • Forming sand and cement screeds
  • Tiling wall surfaces
  • Tiling floor surfaces

What do you need to apply?

  • 2 GCSE qualifications at grades A*-D or 9-3, including English Language
  • Level 1 vocational qualification and a Level 1 English qualification

How will you be assessed?

You will be assessed by a combination of practical assessments, course work, and online exams.

Where can this course take you?

This course could lead to employment as a wall and floor tiler with a variety of businesses, such as house-builders, property development companies, house renovation and refurbishment companies, or by starting your own business in the future. Passing this course can also provide the opportunity for further study and gaining higher qualifications.

After successfully passing the Level 2 Diploma in Wall and Floor Tiling, you may wish to consider expanding your knowledge and skills with one of the following courses:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating (City and Guilds)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance Operations (City and Guilds)
