This course comprises of both practical tasks and theory. In practical sessions you will be building in the workshop using both bricks and blocks. Starting with basic brick corners and progressing towards basic cavity walling. The theory sessions are taught in the classroom. You will be given a series of work packs to complete. These will help you gain the knowledge you require to pass the unit tests.

This course is designed to prepare you to work safely and with confidence in the construction industry with a focus on bricklaying and block work construction skills. You will work to recognised industrial standards & tolerances and will gain the underpinning knowledge and skills to prepare you for progression onto level 2 brickwork diploma. Thought-out the year there will be opportunities for students to go on trips to building exhibitions and building sites, these are planned as part of your studies.
Our minimum entry criteria may be altered at any stage up to and including enrolment. All offers are subject to a successful interview and completion of an initial and diagnostic assessment.
For some of the programmes we offer you will require:
2 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) at grade D-G or 3-1, or entry level vocational qualification,
English and Maths initial assessment.
