On Saturday 27th April, eleven students from different subject areas took part in the memorable Parents Motivational Conference held at Holiday Inn Kensington Forum. The event was organised by Pamela Hammond, Senior Nursery Manager and supported by Donna Ebanks, Nursery Officer while Stefania Caria, Career Development Coordinator contributed to the second part of the event. The aim of the conference was to motivate and inspire learners to aim higher and have compelling ambitions through a range of interactive and practical activities, meaningful discussions and one to one advice and mentoring sessions. The topics covered at the conference included focusing on strengths and skills, self-esteem, creating a vision board, challenging self-limiting beliefs, smart goal setting and action planning. The event closed with a Caribbean dinner and entertainment provided by the hotel. Throughout the day, the atmosphere was amazing and there was a very positive energy flowing which lead to a successful event and highly impactful experience for our students who said:
‘It was amazing, very useful tips. I felt special and really motivated to achieve what I want and continue with my studies’. ‘Amazing session with so much insight into being confident in self, being empathetic, being bold to get what you want – Stefania and Inge were brilliant and so helpful with career advice!’.‘It was very helpful because as a mother I always forget my own skills and abilities and the conference helped me to have a different vision’.
