The Lovies are the only pan-European awards to honour the entire breadth of content created for the internet.
Lambeth College’s website has recently been named a 2012 Lovie Award Silver Medal Winner for educational online marketing and was selected out of nearly 1,000 entries from 20 European countries.
This prestigious gong has been awarded for the site’s excellent content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity and overall user experience. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Science give awards annually in over 80 different categories and the Lovies are the only pan-European awards to honour the entire breadth of content created for the internet.
The design and production of the site is the culmination of a successful partnership between Lambeth College and Kent based web, digital and graphic design agency Tangerine UK Ltd. Almost a year’s worth of work went into the planning and design, look and feel, structure and population of the site and went live in June 2011.
Lambeth College wanted a site filled with lots of new and exciting features such as an intuitive course finder widget, pop-up news and noticeboard items, calendar, podcasts, video windows, 360-degree virtual tours and image galleries.
Si Root, Digital Director at Tangerine said: “Lambeth College certainly set us a challenge with the redevelopment of the site. The project was a complete evolution of their digital landscape. We had a very tight deadline to meet and so meticulous planning and a rigid timeline were essential if we were to deliver the whole project on time and to budget. This award is an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication that has gone into building the site.”
Phil Wareham from the College’s Marketing and Communications Department said: “We wanted to completely overhaul our online presence and to create a site that enables users to find the right course for them as easy as possible. It needed to make good use of social media and be engaging. It also needed to be interactive, accessible and adaptable to new and future functions created on the internet. So far it has achieved all of its original objectives and we are proud to share in the glory of this award with Tangerine UK.”
Staff from Lambeth College and Tangerine will be attending the winner’s party in November to pick up the award.
