Skills Showcase 2012 TOP

Drop in to Lambeth College in June and try your hand at a variety of vocational activities and taster sessions. We have a wide range of courses and subjects from Radio Production to Flower Arranging, Electrical Installations to Creative Arts and Media! You can brush up your skills or discover hidden talents at our specially designed Skills Showcase Days! You’ll also have the opportunity to speak to our experienced tutors and careers advisers and find out more about how a course at Lambeth College can boost your employment skills and help you get ahead in the job market or into higher education.

Activities are suitable for all ages and skills levels unless specified. Protective equipment will be provided where required.

Vauxhall Centre - Tuesday 19 June 2012 

Vox Radio - Radio broadcasting and recording sessions.

All day drop-in sessions: 

11.00 am to 3.00 pm

Motorcycle Maintenance - Removing and refitting exhaust pipes. Removing and replacing brake pads.

Plumbing Workshop

11.00 am to 3.00 pm (Hourly workshops)

Painting and Decoration - How to create stunning paint effects.

Painting and Decorating - Wall papering techniques.

Bricklaying - Take a taster session in our fabulous bricklaying area.

Electrical Installations - Check out our facilities and take part in taster sessions.

Hairstyling - A chance for you to take a look at our modern Hairdressing and Beauty Salons.

Clapham Centre - Wednesday 20 June 2012 

Clapham Sixth Form Centre - Sessions for 15 to 18 year olds only

Science and Sport - Tutors and current students will give you lots of good advice and tell you about student success stories.  There will also be practical demonstrations in one of our fully furnished science labs.

Business, Computing and IT - Demonstrations of various software packages - database,  spreadsheets, website design and network management tools. A chance for you to get involved in taster sessions.

Health and Social Care and Child Care - A chance for you to get involved in taster sessions and demonstrations.

3.00 pm to 5.00 pm
Creative Arts and Media Exhibition - Take a look at the remarkable works of art by students from our School of Creative Arts. Painting, drawing, print, 3D design and sculpture, video production and animation. Talk to tutors and students. 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm
Drama, Acting and Dance performances in our Clapham Centre Theatre - Take a seat in our 160 seat, all-singing, all-dancing, multi-purpose theatre and auditorium for a series of performances from our super-talented students of Performing Arts. 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm

Dental Technology - create your own denture cast.

Enterprise skills - Start your own business.

Legal Secretarial (ILEX) - Life as a legal secretary.

Health Science - How fit and healthy are you? Take a personal basic health check.

Sign Language - Learn a few words with your hands.

Come and have-a-go in any of our 30 minute short taster activities between 2.00 pm and 8.00 pm
OPEN EVENING - 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm - Have-a-go activities and guided tours of our fabulous facilities.  Creative arts and media exhibition and performances in our theatre. Advice, information and guidance. Applying and enrolment.

Brixton Centre - Wednesday 20 June 2012 

Come and talk to staff and students about a range of courses and subjects at our Brixton Centre

Flower Arranging -  Come along and see our students at work in their class. Have a go at preparing a floral arrangement. Room A029

Soft Furnishings - Come along and see our facilities, talk to staff and students. Room B002

Art Portfolio Building - Come along and see our facilities, talk to staff and students. Have a go at some creative techniques and get inspired. Room B001 10.00 am to 12.00 noon
RefuTea - Cake sales to raise money for the Refugee Council. 10.30 am to 2.00 pm
Book Shop Project - Selling books, CDs and DVDs to raise money for refugee children. 11.00 am to 3.00 pm
Refugee Stall - Awareness raising stall and quiz. 11.00 am to 7.00 pm
Activities for Students with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities in our Healthy Gourmet Cafe - Take part in taster sessions and have a tour of the kitchens and facilities. 11.00 am to 5.00 pm

Finding your Singing Voice – visitors can visit the singing class which will be taking place at that time. They can listen to students singing and possible take part in the group songs. 1.00pm – 3.00pm  room C003
 
Drawing Workshop – visitors can visit the Drawing Workshop class which will be taking place at that time, they can see the facilities, talk to students and have a go at doing some Art Work 3.30pm – 5.30pm room B001
 
Yoga for All – Visitors can visit the class which will be taking place at that time to observe the different type of yoga movements 11.45am – 1.15pm room C001
