Classic musicals of an era passed were very much back in-vogue at Lambeth College as a spring in the steps of Lambeth College performing arts students brought to life our 2009 International Women’s Day Celebrations.

Students belted out old favourites such as ‘Once a Year is Not Enough’ from ‘Summer Song’ and There is Nothin’ Like a Dame’ and ‘Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair’ from South Pacific.  Anyone walking by the Centre during the performance would have been forgiven for believing they had passed through a porthole to the Broadway of the 1940s and 50s.

Nearly 100 people packed the audience for the show, which aimed to raise funds for the SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society), a charity providing support for bereaved parents and their families.

Student Kandi Bryan said: Taking part in this wonderful variety show was an excellent opportunity.  I particularly enjoyed our performance of ‘Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair’.  It is so exhilarating to be part of such a booming chorus line.”

Amy Plummer added: “It’s great fun; you come away from this with the feel-good factor.”

The show also featured dance, drama, comical sketches and a monologue.
