The Flashmob Urban Dancers surprise saturday shoppers on Brixton Road.
The bank holiday got off to a hot start on Saturday, when Lambeth College treated South London’s shoppers to a display of flashmob street dancing.
A troupe of 30 urban dancers hit the high streets in Clapham and Brixton as part of the celebrations marking the opening of South London’s new flagship sixth form building at our Clapham Centre.
The new £20 million sixth form building will be opening its doors to the public for the first time with a ‘Big Open Day’ on Saturday 6 June from 12- 4pm. There will be demos and displays from Lambeth College students - ranging from motorcycle maintenance to makeovers – as well as a gallery showing artworks from local schools, guided tours, a performing arts display and much more. DJ Richard Blackwood and the Choice FM team will be providing the entertainment, and visitors will have a chance to meet students and teachers.
The new sixth form centre will offer some of the best teaching facilities in South London. As well as over 40 teaching rooms with capacity for 1200 students it includes a 160-capacity performing arts venue, a student careers hub, state of the art IT zones, a ‘chill out zone’, and a new media and arts centre, including a rooftop garden overlooking Clapham Common. The iconic 6500m2 building has been designed by architects BDP.
