Lambeth College can boast the most splendidly turned out students this month after a selected group of Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy learners gave free makeovers to five lucky Painting and Decorating students at our Vauxhall Centre.

The Hair and Beauty Therapists are currently studying on Level 2 courses and were offered the challenge, by their Lecturer Joy Foster, to put their skills to good use as part of the national ‘Colleges Week’ event from the 9th to the 15th November.

Colleges Week celebrates the opportunities that colleges create for individuals and businesses. Lambeth College was invited to stage an event to showcase the talents of our students and demonstrate the skills they have learned which are required in the real world.  Five students from the Painting and Decorating CSKILLS Level 2 and 3 courses were invited to the College's ‘Splendid Touch Salon’ for hairstyling and manicure treatments.

Beauty Therapists Isabelle Grant and Danielle Stephens and Hairdressers Anna Piva and Lucy Doyle were also appreciative of the chance to work with male customers as next year they will be required to provide a wide variety of hair and beauty treatments to paying clients.

Commenting on the event Joy was clear that the session would offer valuable experience. She said: “Offering treatments to clients from all walks of life is part of working in salons and treatment rooms.”

Painter and Decorator Aaron Eka said: ‘My previous skincare regime was to simply use soap and water.  This is much better and I could certainly get used to it!"

Splendid Touch Salon is now planning to market more of their treatments to male clients.
