The Bulldozers Go In!

The Works: Demolition of the old site has now began at our Centre in Clapham.

Construction of the new Lambeth College Sixth Form Centre started in March when Geoffrey Osborne Limited sent in their bulldozers to demolish part of the existing site.  Following four years of planning and design work, this marks a significant point in completing the project.

The concrete frame for the new building will start to go up during the summer and autumn of this year, with a tower crane lifting equipment and materials onto this five storey structure.

Despite the building works, it’s ‘business as usual’ at the Clapham Centre with all courses operating fully and significant numbers of people already enrolled for September 2007.

The construction of the Sixth Form Centre does not mean the rest of the College is being forgotten.  Plans are afoot for significant refurbishment works in the remainder of the Clapham Centre, together with a large sports hall at the rear of the site.  Extensive redevelopment plans are also being discussed for the Brixton and Vauxhall Centres.
