Crocodile smiles: Our first cohort of Foundation Degree Dental Technology students graduate at De Montfort University, Leicester earlier this year.  They are now fully fledged Dental Technicians.

November 2007

An enthusiastic group of dental technology students at Lambeth College have successfully cleared their first hurdle towards a BSc Honours degree and a fantastic new career.

The students completed their Foundation Degrees in Dental Technology which begins at Lambeth College and progresses to De Montfort University in Leicester.  At a recent graduation ceremony at the University they celebrated their success along with their tutors.

The Foundation degree course is designed for people who are, or wish to, work in the field of dental technology to gain statutory registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and who wish to qualify as dental technicians.  It provides the skills required for designing, manufacture and quality assurance of custom made dental devices such as bridges, braces and dentures.  Once the foundation degree has been successfully completed, progression onto a full BSc (Hons) can be undertaken or the student can go into full time employment in a commercial dental laboratory.

Their tutor Karen Horton said: “Our proud team of tutors are overjoyed at the success of our students.  They have showed great dedication to get these qualifications.  Dental technology is a very specialist skill, which requires pinpoint accuracy and precision at all times.  We wish them even further success for the future.”
