The Government's Further Education White Paper was given its official launch on Monday 27 March when Chancellor Gordon Brown and Education Secretary Ruth Kelly came along to Lambeth College's new training centre at Battersea Power Station.

They met and talked to the Principal Richard Chambers and Chair of Governors Dame Lorna Boreland-Kelly before being given a tour around the site by Head of School for Construction Len Conway.  Construction students were also given the opportunity to have a chat with Mr Brown and Ms Kelly.  Trina Downey from the Bricklaying Foundation Construction Award gave a demonstration of her bricklaying skills, as well as talking about her course and future ambitions.  Adam Knott (above), on the same course, talked about opportunities on site with the forthcoming development work at the Power Station and in East London with the construction of the Olympic stadium and village.

Principal Richard Chambers said: "The College is involved in many innovative projects to bring us into closer working partnership with employers, and it is very rewarding for colleagues and students involved in this project to receive such a strong endorsement for their work from the Chancellor, Gordon Brown".
