Variety is the Spice of Life
The talent: All-girl dance group 'Beep' and singer/songwriter Femi perform at the annual Variety Show in April.
April 2006
Friday 28 April saw the fourh annual Lambeth College Variety Show. This year's Variety show was in aid of the African Carribean Leukemia Trust (ACLT) which was followed by a very well attended bone marrow drive the following Tuesday.
With auditions taking place in Febuary, sixteen of the college's finest acts came through to give the audience a night to remember. The show was mainly dominated by singers and dancers, with a special comedy segment from the one and only Victor Daniels. Victor's popularity and comedy sense has made him a firm favourite with our students.
The compere for the night was Jay who kept the crowd moving with his unique style.
The show was opened with the smooth vocal style of Swayne Robinson which had the girls in the audience screaming for more. This artist is definitey one to watch in the near future. He has already toured with Lionel Ritchie.
With the theatre full to capacity, the participants demonstrated their talent to an eager audience in a festival-like atmosphere. All the performers used the energy of the crowd to produced good quality performances.
The highlight of the night was the Fashion Show and the dreaded battle of the sexes which the females won for the fourth year in succession.
In all we raised approximately £800 for the ACLT, as well as being able to donate blood to help save a life. Lambeth College students did themselves proud by helping such a worthy cause.
