The Soft Furnishings classes at our Adare Centre put on sale an array of their hand-stitched cushions and covers during May in the hope of raising money for charity.  The sale was the idea of student Ellen Lebethe who thought it would help mark this year’s Adult Learners Week at Lambeth College’s Adare Centre in Streatham Hill.

Peacock_Cushion_webThe sale included cushions for all tastes, all designed by the students on our Soft Furnishing courses run by tutor Daphne Wood.  She said: “The students have been so industrious this year and have turned out a huge amount of work.  We decided to have a sale of the work and a raffle and give all the proceeds to charity.  We chose a service which provides information, emotional support and counselling to cancer patients in the UK called BACUP.  Everyone has been so enthusiastic about making this a success.  The standard of the work is very high and there are some magnificent cushions”.

The cushion sale and raffle have so far raised over £900.
