The Ambassadors’ Reception

Aspirations: Doyinsola and friends will be promoting the benefits of studying at Lambeth College to young people around South London.
May 2006
Lambeth College has employed a group of its own students to help promote the College. They will work for the College, get paid a generous hourly rate, be taught to give presentations, receive personal development training, work with other FE and HE students, act as tour guides, and assist at parents’ evenings and other college events.
Our newly appointed Ambassadors came in for a training day during their last half term vacation. They were taught skills in child protection, health & safety, handling difficult situations, equal opportunities and personal presentation.
Doyinsola Adebanji-Kasali, a first year A Level student said: “I want to be a College Ambassador because of the great prospects it will offer me in the future. It is good experience for me to work with young people and to set good examples for them”.
Carl Pennycook from the Skills for Life course at our Brixton Centre is another student keen to make the scheme a success. He says: “I am proud to have been picked as one of the ambassadors. It’s an exciting project to be involved in. I also see it as a way of gaining confidence in myself”.
The ambassadors will soon be visiting schools around South London talking to pupils about life at the College, the benefits of entering further education and how it can lead to a successful future.
