March 2006
Lambeth College’s School of Construction is about to open a training facility at Battersea Power Station. The centre houses a computer suite and teaching facilities which will be used to train site workers and students in a range of construction trades and site skills.
The scaffolding will soon be in place at the Power Station, ready for a complete rebuild of the historic chimneys and the transformation of the original building. When completed the Station will provide a new entertainment, events, cultural and commercial focus for London. The construction project will create around 3,000 jobs. Lambeth College will be involved in the training of new workers (in conjunction with ‘The Job Shop’) in a variety of construction skills. There will be a big emphasis on CITB Health & Safety tests which are essential for every worker before they can be employed on the site.
In addition, Construction students from the College will be involved in a number of exciting heritage and historic building conservation projects.

The Vision: What Battersea Power Station will be transformed into.
