Runners:  Tutor Jacqui Thompson with her students, and their admiring supporters, prepare themselves for the road ahead in this year’s Race for Life.

May 2006

The Tesco Race for Life is the UK’s biggest women-only fundraising event.  It is held annually in 230 different venues throughout the country and over 750,000 women of all ages and levels of fitness take part to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

On the 3 May this year 11 Lambeth College staff members, their students and friends ran in the 5 km race around a glowing Battersea Park.  In addition, 3 members of the Autistic Spectrum Disorders Club along with two mothers and their tutor Jacqui Thompson also took part.  The Spring-like conditions and the number of people running in memory of people they had lost through cancer made it an inspiring event. All of our competitors found the whole experience totally exhilarating.

Lambeth College’s team have raised almost £2,000 for Cancer Research so far and they wish to thank everyone who sponsored them or who made donations along the route.
