Lambeth College’s BTEC National Diploma Year 1 students stole the show at the L7 fringefestival this month. When the lights went down on stage everything became suspect, everyone was for sale and nothing was what it seemed as our students performed their slick, sassy and thrilling production of LA Confidential.
On the QT: Leonie Hinds gets into character at the Cockpit Theatre.
The LSC-sponsored L7 fringefestival is a celebration of work in the arts of seven Central London FE colleges. This was the first ever collaborative event to showcase the talent, skills and creative work of students at each college. Over three evenings, the festival brought together a creative and inspiring extravaganza of dance, drama, choreography, musical theatre, popular theatre, music technology and sound engineering.
Ana Guimares, organiser of the event at City of Westminster College’s Cockpit Theatre, said: “We staged the event to give students the chance to perform at a proper theatre in a professional setting with a large audience. All of the students rose to the occasion on the night and performed brilliantly. They were a great reflection of the way they have been taught.”
and very hush hush.. Lorna Callaghan, Leila Serrao and Paula Libanio.
Lambeth College’s students received a standing ovation for their adaptation of James Ellroy’s classic crime novel and subsequent 1997 blockbuster film. The acting, technical assistance, wardrobe and make-up were highly praised and their tutor Kathryn Culbert was congratulated on a fabulous piece of work.
