Two of Lambeth College’s ex-Motorcycle/Scooter Maintenance students are making great progress along the road to becoming professional motorcycle mechanics.  Wayne Warren and Warren Wilson are both now enjoying apprenticeships at prestigious motorcycle dealers in South and West London.

Wayne Warren, 19, was a student on our Motorcycle/Scooter Repair & Maintenance: C&G NVQ Level 1/2 course at our Vauxhall Centre last year.  The skills he obtained on this course led him to find employment with a branch of Infinity Motorcycles in Clapham High Street near to the end of his second year.  On completing the course Wayne was offered a full-time job where he now works as an Apprentice Motorcycle Mechanic.

Says Wayne: “I really enjoy my new job. All the skills I learnt at college have been relevant to the work I am asked to do here.  I’m thankful to Lambeth College for getting me on the first rung of the ladder and now it’s up to me to go further.”

Warren_Wilson_web_iHigh Standards: Warren Wilson is gaining even more new skills and qualifications at his new job at Honda Chiswick.

Warren Wilson, 21, studied at the College up until two years ago.  He was found a work experience placement at DLT Motorcycles in the City which became a full-time job on completion of his course and has recently moved on to an apprenticeship opportunity at Honda, Chiswick.  Warren’s new boss, Executive Director Philip Long, said: “We demand very high standards at Honda and require all of our technicians to be licensed from base level to diagnostics.  Warren will be taking his first exam soon.  We took on Warren because of his enthusiasm for his work and because he really wanted to work for Honda.”

Says Warren: “I’ve come on leaps and bounds since I started my course at the College and now I’ve taken a huge step landing myself a prize job at Honda.  I have the opportunity to learn engine re-building, diagnostic testing, MOT testing and much more.”
