Marsha Meade: Student of the Year at University of Central England

February 2006

Marsha Meade came to England in 1997 following a volcanic eruption in Montserrat. She successfully completed a number of courses at the Brixton Centre of Lambeth College including an NVQ Level 3 in Administration and a computerised accounts course.  This allowed her to progress to university in London.

Marsha has just graduated with a Masters Degree in Audit Management and Consultancy from the University of Central England, gaining not only a distinction but the Pritchard Wood prize for best Student of the Year as well.

An employee in the Office of the Auditor General in Montserrat, Marsha was funded for her Masters via the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan.  Marsha said: "The work was hard, very exciting and my hard work paid off. This honour is well worth the long hours studying."

Her Course Director praised Marsha and said: “She was a model student during the programme and scored the number one position out of 200 students. That is quite an achievement and we are very proud of Marsha here at the school."

In November 2005 Marsha also passed the certified internal auditor examinations, a professional qualification.
