Welcome to Vox Radio: Every Wednesday on LC Net.

November 2005

VOX RADIO is the brand-new radio station dedicated to the students and staff of Lambeth College.

The station began broadcasting at 9.00 am on Wednesday 9 November 2005.  It is the latest and most ambitious project by the students on our Radio: C&G Diploma in Advanced Media Techniques course at the College’s Vauxhall Centre.  Listeners can connect to the broadcast every Wednesday via the College Intranet.

Vox Radio has been an ambition of the tutors and students in our radio department for some time and this year it has become a reality due to the help from the IT Services team who have enabled the students to stream their programmes live on computers.

Course tutor Sheila Smith said, “We aim to use the station, not just to broadcast music, but to keep the College’s students and staff informed on education issues, news and events, hot topics, debates and other items of interest.  The students have done a lot of research into the type of programming their audience will appreciate.”

Student Stephen Fanstone, who presents his show between 12 noon and 1 pm, said, “This is a very exciting opportunity for all of us.  Keeping the station alive and interesting means we have to work as a team in our writing, reporting, producing and presenting.  It is giving us a taste of how a professional radio station would operate.”

Vox Radio can only be accessed through Lambeth College’s Intranet at our Centres.
