Moving: Veronica Nabagasera is superb as Juliet.

July 2005

Lambeth Universal Performers (LUP) are a group of Performing Arts students, some of whom have learning difficulties/disabilities. As part of this year’s tour they performed at the Jersey Arts Centre, Battersea Arts Centre and at the Stockwell Urban Festival.

The audiences were impressed by the high quality of production and acting.  This year’s Shakespeare production was Romeo and Juliet, a visually beautiful and moving production with some excellent performances by Martin Sobrino (Romeo) and Veronica Nabagasera (Juliet). This was supported by a production of Pinocchio, a slick, lively performance that successfully incorporated physical and musical theatre.  The stars of this performance were Amanda Sealy (Pinocchio) and Roberta Edwards (Blanche).

Lambeth College promotes an inclusive approach to learning by enabling LUP members to embark on real tours. The group is set up to give interested students an opportunity to work in a theatre company incorporating all of the procedures of a professional company.
