Theatre Sounds Good to Lawrence

February 2005
Lawrence Cooper, a student in the second year of the BTEC National Certificate in Music Technology & Audio Electronics, recently attended a Technical Theatre Training Week organised by the Young Vic Theatre and Talkback Thames. The week was designed to give an insight into the technical aspects involved in theatre and TV productions and was delivered by professionals working in the fields of lighting, sound, set design and stage management.
“I really enjoyed the week,” said Lawrence. “We got to see backstage at the National Theatre and we spent a day at Thames TV on the set of ‘The Bill’ where they showed us how the show is produced. I’m now really considering a career in Technical Theatre or TV production.”
As a result of the course Lawrence is now involved in a forthcoming theatre production at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. After completing his BTEC National Certificate, Lawrence hopes to progress to university and subsequent employment as a Sound Engineer.
