The Catering Work Project has been a real success since it started in Sept 2003.  The students run a successful bread making business and work towards OCR Young Enterprise Certificate. The course includes literacy and numeracy skills, as well as practical cookery and food hygiene.
As well as making and baking, the students also have a bread round, selling to staff throughout the Vauxhall Centre.

Wyndham Lewis-Baxter, a lecturer at the Vauxhall Centre, said:  “The foccacia was beautiful and tasted wonderful. I will definitely want more next year!”

Alice Namagembe, a Catering Work Project student, is sorry that this year’s course is nearly over:  “I will miss the course.  I have made very good friends and made huge steps in progress on the Catering Work Project”.

Frank Innes, the Course Tutor, is also very enthusiastic:  “This course is a pleasure to run and it has made an impact on not only very grateful staff at Vauxhall, but more importantly on the communication skills and confidence levels of the students. The selling part has been excellent fun and very rewarding!”
