Students participate in a discussion on gang culture and crime during the 'Outside the Box' workshop at our Clapham Centre.

October 2005

The ‘Outside the Box’ workshops came to the Clapham Centre in October to engage Lambeth College students and local school pupils in the art of story-telling, drama, poetry and music to communicate information on social issues affecting young people.

The first ‘Warrior Dance’ was a pan-African martial arts workshop, which introduced key self-defence techniques to encourage freedom of expression, peace, power and wisdom.  The second, a participative workshop, dealt with ‘Gangs and Territorialism.  This was an opportunity for our students to learn techniques for dealing with safety and danger, enemies, space and territory, status and power, identity, reputation and revenge.
