Mark wins Top Radio Prize

Mark Williams, a former Lambeth College student on the BTEC National Award in Media (Radio Production) at Wandsworth Prison, has won the Charles Parker Prize for Student Radio Features. This prestigious national prize is awarded to the student whos entry represents the most creative use of radio in a documentary. Mark won £500 in prize money and a 2 week work placement with the BBC Radio Documentaries Unit.

This is a fantastic achievement for Mark who is currently doing a BA (Hons) Degree in Media and Communications at Goldsmiths College, London.  It also gives testimony to the excellent work being done to encourage the individual talents of students through Lambeth College’s Prison Radio Project.

Lambeth College has also been working along side the BBC’s Training & Development Unit on the production of a Prison Radio Training CD which will be used in a mobile training unit visiting various prisons in the West Midlands.  Two members of staff, Sheila Smith and Annabel Pearcey, have been actively involved in the development and content of the CD.
