A credit to the College: Del Ludlow
Del Ludlow is the Photocopying Services Technician based at our Vauxhall Centre. On 11 October he was a guest at the prestigious DfES (Department for Education and Skills) STAR Awards 2005. These awards celebrate people who make a difference in education. Del received a ‘Highly Commended’ award for his work at Lambeth College.
Del was chosen from a shortlist of eleven in the category of ‘Outstanding Support’ (sponsored by UNISON). There were originally 1,500 entrants for this category and Del made it to the top two.
Head of Learning Resources, Mary Findlay, entered Del for the award. She said: “Heroes don’t come more ‘unsung’ than Del. He works alone in the basement yet turns out a prolific amount of work - all to an exceptionally high standard and always on time. Del has a great commitment to and understanding of his role. All of his work is carried out in a cheerful, patient and professional manner. I am so delighted that Del has been recognised in this year’s STAR Awards.”
The STAR Awards ceremony was hosted by GMTV presenters Penny Smith and Ben Shephard. Del said: “I’m very proud to have been nominated for this award and over-the-moon about getting a ‘Highly Commended’ prize. I especially enjoyed the ceremony, it was quite a spectacle.”
