Dionne Konstantinious, one of Lambeth College’s Student Development Officers, competed in the 5th International Martial Arts World Championships on Saturday 26 June in Bedford.

As a Student Development Officer, Dionne supports young people’s learning by engaging them in personal development activities and helping them with any problems that arise during their time at the college.

Dionne says:
‘I have trained in various disciplines of Martial Arts for over 24 years and have focussed on Tang Soo Do for the last 5 years. Winning these awards is a great honour for me and a huge encouragement for the young people that I work with at work and for the Martial Arts students that I train in my spare time. The students that I work with at Lambeth show great interest in my involvement in Martial Arts and I hope that my success in the tournament has inspired them to achieve more for themselves.’

It has to be said that our girl ‘done good’. Here’s an idea of just how good she is:

As a 1st Dan Black Belt Instructor in the individual events she achieved the following medals:
Bronze in forms
Silver in weapons
Bronze in free fighting

In the creative forms, Dionne entered 2 teams and out of 16 teams they were placed 2nd and 3rd.

European Black Belt Challenge - Dionne was selected for the European black belt team, achieved Grand Champion for the forms and came second in the free fighting following a gruelling sudden death competition.

Dionne was placed second overall in the World Championship competition.
