Paying Homage to Black History

October 2003
Students and staff from the Performing Arts courses at Lambeth College came together to celebrate Black History Month with two eclectic and energetic shows which included dance, drumming, spoken word, song and theatre.
Eshe Asante and Ricky Payne (BTEC National Diploma Performance Year 2) were mistress and master of ceremonies, introducing solo acts that were dedicated by students to extraordinary black historical figures including Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parkes.
Access to Performing Arts students provided an educational and highly entertaining physical theatre performance which celebrated black inventors, whilst BTEC First Diploma and Expressive Arts students provided dance and video entertainment using Afro-Cuban and dancehall influences. The show was joyfully rounded off by the Lambeth College choir, led by Patrick Bernard.
