Media courses at Lambeth College are largely practical based and aim to provide you with a multitude of skills and knowledge in photography, video production, digital publishing and media studies.
In today’s media production industries you will be expected to be multi-skilled. As a media professional you will need to be a good visualiser and communicator and hold the relevant technical skills to provide the service you specialise in.
Here you will study a combination of media theory and practice and receive hands-on experience by working on a range of projects and assignments both individually and as part of a team. You will be expected to get involved in researching a subject, planning and devising a programme, storytelling and writing scripts, choosing a location, lighting and camera techniques. With digital publishing and web design you will learn storyboarding, design of web pages, electronic imaging and animation using Adobe Photoshop, Director and Flash.
Advice and information on how to operate as a freelancer or as an employee of an established company are essential elements of our courses. A study of the industry you hope to work in is as important as the technical skills you acquire if you are to succeed in your chosen career.
Our tutors have years of experience in encouraging students to release their raw talent and put it to good use. This combined with a range of great facilities and resources, excellent libraries and study centres and many like-minded fellow students to work alongside, will give you great opportunity to shine.
Media courses are offered to young people at our brand new Sixth Form Centre in Clapham. Courses for adult students are held in the media studios at our Vauxhall Centre. All of our courses lead to nationally recognised qualifications and are designed to provide a route to higher education and/or employment.
