This course covers the generic knowledge and skills required to work as a teaching assistant or a similar role.
Course content:
- Child and young person development
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
- Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people

Helping improve own and team practice in schools
After this course: Progression to level 3 or promotion.
Level 1 English and Maths or equivalent in the initial College assessment. Learners must be employed in a relevant work setting in a paid or voluntary capacity and provide evidence of a Criminal Record Declaration on enrolment.
