This course provides trainee journalists with the knowledge and skills for professional entry level journalism. It is accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

Learners take NCTJ exams and are required to undertake work placements.

Course content:

All candidates must achieve the five mandatory subjects and the two specialist options to gain the Diploma:

Mandatory subjects:

Reporting
Essential Media Law
Essential Public Affairs
Portfolio
Teeline shorthand

Specialist options:

Production Journalism
Media Law Court Reporting

After this course: Employment.

Learners need to have a degree or equivalent and will be required to take the NCTJ pre-entry test.
